Automated module for preparation of furnace atmosphere containing carbonaceous gases The automated module for preparation of furnace atmosphere is used to premix gases before supplying them to retort furnaces for the processes of carburizing and oxidation-free heating as well as to keep automatically the required value of carbon potential in the atmosphere. Design description: The module is a device intended to set the ratio of technological gases while producing an atmosphere of the endogas composition. The primary regulation is carried out by the operator who takes readings of flow meters and uses valves. A microprocessor-based controller receiving the oxygen sensor signal keeps the required carbon potential by adjusting the amount of air added. For MPFA-MESA 02 and MPFA-MESA 04 modules, the operator sets the required setting directly in %C by means of Carbo 100 controller, which requires less efforts and eliminates any possibility of error. The controller calculates the value of carbon potential on a real time basis and carries out automatic program control using the proportional-integral-differential method. During oxygen measurements, a special-purpose l-probe produced by MESA Electronic GmbH (Germany), a reputed worldwide leader in manufacturing equipment for furnace atmosphere control, is used. Oxygen content in the atmosphere is measured while pumping gas from the furnace through a sampling pipe. A purpose-designed microcompressor is used to pump gas. This design provides more precise measurement of the carbon potential and is less subject to risk of carbon deposition in case of the operator’s errors. MPFA-MESA 02 and MPFA-MESA 04 units have become a next step of Nakal Company to improve carburizing equipment. The units may be operated by less experienced personnel, provide greater control accuracy, decrease the frequency of scheduled maintenance and are more user-friendly. Duration and cost of their commissioning are less than that of the previous MPFA units | Carbo 100 controller | | | | | | Gas supplying equipment with MESA l-probe | | | MPPA | Scope of delivery: MPPA-MESA 02, MPPA-MESA 04: 1.
